Louisville Residents Stay Safe with Customizable Crime Alert Map
Residents in Louisville, Kentucky are now able to receive customized updates on crime that can be narrowed down to a particular beat with the help of sophisticated online mapping tools. The Louisville Metro Police Department has created an online Google crime map, in conjunction with QuickFind that allows users to receive updates based on which of the county’s eight police divisions they live in. Users can also get information on which beats they are interested in and can receive alerts via text or email with the help of GovDelivery.
Lieutenant Robert Schroeder of the Louisville Police Department states that the map offers residents a better idea of general crime trends in their area. It also enables the police department to inform citizens of new crime in areas where crime has typically been low in the past.
