Regular Testing of Emergency Notification Systems is Crucial

Schools rely on their emergency notification systems (ENS) to help notify students and caregivers in the event of an emergency situation on campus.

Omnilert LLC, maker of the leading unified emergency notification system for education recently conducted a customer survey to measure the testing practices of their clients. The survey found that 82 percent of polled schools test their ENS on a regular basis. School officials must look for trends when interpreting results, such as if a large number of calls show up as ‘busy”, it could mean that the school is overwhelming local phone lines.

Properly working emergency notification systems could mean the difference between a small incident and a major catastrophe. Schools must be sure that their ENS works properly so that emergency notifications reach students and/or their guardians.
