Art Johnstone currently serves as President of Grant Partners Inc., a not-for-profit organization that assists other not-for-profits and local/state government agencies with the acquisition and management of grant funding from government sources and private foundations. Art also works regularly as an adult education instructor for several nationally certified food safety and food defense courses, offered by the International Food Protection Training Institute (IFPTI), the Center for Agriculture and Food Security and Preparedness (CAFSP), and the Western Institute for Food Safety and Security (WIFSS).
Art began working for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in 2001, serving as Director of Agricultural Emergency Preparedness from 2004 through 2011. In that role he coordinated and expanded the Department’s agroterrorism prevention and emergency preparedness programs, acquired and managed more than $25 million in Department of Homeland Security Funding for the agency, and developed and led a successful, statewide food defense training program.
A 1988 graduate of Miami University (Ohio), Art earned a Bachelors Degree in Biological Science Education. In 2000 he also earned a Master of Arts in Christian Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary. He and his wife Carol live in Tallahassee, Florida with their six children.
