Mr. Greg Howard is a master instructor with Eastern Kentucky University, an academic partner of the RDPC.
Mr. Howard has a long and diverse career in criminal justice. He began his professional career in 1977 with the Lexington (KY) Division of Police and retired as a captain after nearly 20 years of service. Soon after retirement, he accepted a position at the Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) in Richmond, Kentucky and served in a variety of roles, including director of Training and director of Training Support. He continues his association with the DOCJT as an adjunct police instructor, something he has done since 1986.
After a short tenure in the private sector with Lockmaster Securities, he was appointed commissioner of Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement, where he served for four and one-half years. In 2008, he established Greg Howard & Associates (GHA) Consulting Firm, which provides investigative, consulting, and training services. He has also served as a witness in areas of expertise. Mr. Howard is currently employed by the Fayette County Attorney’s Office, serving as the Gang Enforcement Specialist. In addition, he is a part time instructor at Eastern Kentucky University in the College of Justice and Safety, Department of Safety, Security and Emergency Management.
Mr. Howard has a bachelor’s degree in police administration and a master’s degree in security and loss prevention from Eastern Kentucky University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Class 164. He is a member of various professional organizations, including the ASIS (American Society of Industrial Security), IACP (International Association of Chiefs of Police), the FBI National Academy Association, KACP (Kentucky Association of Chiefs of Police), and ASLET (American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers).
